How much does a traffic light bulb cost? Is it worth a life?
This is something I've been asking myself for a while now. If you have taken I-95 North using Yamato Road you'll know what I'm talking about.
For as long as I can remember the traffic light that controls the flow of cars to the I-95 ramp going north is missing the RED light.
The problem with this traffic light is that it has 4 lights, one that is always green to signal eastbound traffic on Yamato Road to go ahead and the other 3 to regulate access to the ramp to I-95 North.
All the other lights work, the green to signal that you can take the ramp, the yellow to tell you that you should start stopping and then, the red light never comes on, but remember the green light for Yamato still on.
If you are coming from the eastbound and you know about this, you are always on the lookout for someone crossing your way to take the ramp.
This is an accident waiting to happen, when someone unfamiliar with the area, taking the ramp north, gets fooled with the green light on Yamato collides with another unsuspected westbound traveler.
I know that economic restrictions are the order of the day and I don't know who is supposed to fix this, FDOT, Palm Beach County or the City of Boca Raton, but someone needs to do something about it, because I really don't think that a traffic light bulb is worth a life.
What do you think? We welcome your comments on this.
